Year 9 Hospitality students have taken part in a healthy schools activity supported by the school catering company, Harrisons. They had planned, costed, prepared and served their dishes as well as giving a ‘Dragons Den’ style presentation to the Harrisons Catering Manager. The criteria was healthy eating bearing in mind cost and mass production.
The winning dishes for main meat based dish, vegetarian main dish and a hot and a cold dessert were then added to the school canteen menu during lunchtimes Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th July and served by some of the students who created them. The winning dishes were pitta pockets, lemon quark cheesecake, beef burrito and mini apple pies with custard. Catering Manager Simon remarked that all the dishes were excellent and went well. All the dishes will now be added to the main school menu. Well done all.
