Health and Social Care
We are offering the new L2 BTEC Tech Award in Health & Social Care which is specifically aimed at 14 – 16 year old learners and is delivered in years 10 and 11. It is a 2-year qualification, which is made up for 3 assessed component units: Human Lifespan Development, Health and Social Care Services and Values, and Health and Wellbeing. The qualification is appropriate for learners wishing to gain knowledge about working in caring roles and settings. It is beneficial for the progression of those students who wish to study health and social care or childcare following school, or looking to progress in careers of nursing, social work, midwifery and other health and caring professions.
2 of the units of study are course work assessed - Human Lifespan Development, Health and Social Care Services and Values, and 1 unit is exam assessed - Health and Wellbeing.
General themes covered are health promotion, underpinning care values and development through the lifespan as well as factors which impact this such as smoking, alcohol, poverty, drug misuse, role models etc.
