With continued success in BTEC results and another significant improvement in the number of students gaining the equivalent of 9 – 4 (A*-C) in English and maths the students of The Grange School have much to celebrate.

The Head of School, Liz Garman, commented: “We are delighted with our students’ results they have worked very hard and fully deserve to be congratulated on their achievements. As we continue our journey of improvement these results are a clear indicator of the continued progress that has been made building upon the improvements from last year. We expect this progress to continue year on year.”

20% of all the grades achieved were 9/8 or D*/D with 53% of students achieving at least one or more 9 or D*.

Our top students gained the highest grades either 7+ or D/D* for at least five of their subjects. These were: Daniel Baverstock, Ben Brown, Ella Eglon, Amy Hall, Mitchell Sherred and Owen Simmons. 

Particular mention should go to Ben and Mitchell who gained the very top, 9 grade or D* in 3 of their subjects, Ben achieved two grade 9s in science with Mitchell achieving a grade 9 and 8 in science.

Overall, 72% of the students gained 9 – 4 (A*-C) in English and 69% gained 9 – 4 (A*-C) in mathematics meaning that 63% of students gained the equivalent of 9 – 4 (A*-C) in both English and mathematics, this is an improvement of 7% from last year. 59% of the students gained five or more 9 – 4 (or equivalent A*-C) grades including English and mathematics. These results show also an improvement of 9% from last year. The school would also like to share the continued improvement in progress made in Science where 59% of students have achieved a grade 4,4 or above indicating improvements of 12% and 41% achieve a grade 5,5 an improvement of 9%.

Our Level 2 BTEC results were again excellent this year. We are delighted that 50% of the grades achieved by students were Distinction star and Distinction (equivalent of A*/A at GCSE).

In a truly comprehensive school, these are outstanding achievements and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the students and to thank their parents, their teachers and the support staff for enabling them to do so well.

With this further improvement in outcomes, we would like to take the opportunity to invite prospective students and parents to visit our school to see what their children are capable of with us. We have spaces in Year 7 and are happy to arrange a tour.

The Grange School is pleased to celebrate another set of excellent Level 3 BTEC results. Once again, these results show the students to be working in the top 25% of students nationally for these qualifications. 

We are delighted to announce 100% Distinction* to Merit (equivalent A* to B at A Level) for our Level 3 Extended Diploma (3 A Level Equivalent) in Health and Social Care.

Our Health and Social Care students have been successful in progressing to universities to study Mental Health Nursing and Psychology or taking up employment with further training as health care professionals. Our students are to be commended for their hard work and success. A number of students have also achieved employment offers following excellent work experience with our partner employers.

Students studying our new Engineering BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma (1.5 A Level Equivalent) designed in partnership with local employers also did very well, 50% achieving Distinction and 75% achieving Merit. They have been a credit to themselves and the school.  Every student received glowing feedback from their work experience placements with a number receiving job offers and encouragement to apply for apprenticeships with some world renowned companies including Ultra Electronics, Curtiss-Wright, Peter Day and Signature TechnicAir to name but a few.

We are delighted with the success of all our students, and are particularly pleased that they all have progressed onto a career pathway of their choice. We wish them well in the future and look forward to hearing about their continued success. A big thank you must also go to the staff and parents without whose support and dedication these outstanding results would not have been possible.
