With a significant improvement in the number of students gaining the equivalent of 9 – 4 (A*-C) in English and Maths, Science, History and Geography our students had much to celebrate in August 2018.

Overall, 63% of the students gained 9 – 4 (A*-C) in English and 60% gained 9 – 4 (A*-C) in Maths. The percentage of the students achieving a ‘strong’ pass of a Grade 5 or above in English and Maths has increased significantly by 13.5%. Those achieving grade 4 and above in English and Maths has strongly increased, by 10%, to 56%. In Science, 56% of students achieved a grade 4 or above, indicating improvements of over 20%.

A stunning 10 students gained the top grades (either 7+ or D/D* equivalent to A/A*) for at least five of their subjects. These were: Naomi Austin, Zenna Gomez, James Hancock, Marshall Hill, Jacob Larner, Tommi Lindsey, Ryan Murphy, Jade Rawles, Elysia Wood and Daniel Wowkula.

Our Level 2 BTEC results were again outstanding, with students celebrating a 100% pass rate. We are delighted that so many students received the BTEC Distinction*and Distinction grades, the equivalent of A*/A at GCSE. The results were stunning, with Business achieving 82%, Creative Digital Media 56%, Engineering 18%, Health and Social Care 37%, Hospitality 69%, and Sport 30% all at D*/D, demonstrating why we were awarded the National BTEC School of the Year for 2017.

The Grange Sixth Form was delighted to announce 100% Distinction* to Merit (equivalent A* to B at A Level) for Level 3 Extended Diploma (3 A Level Equivalent) and Diploma (2 A Level Equivalent) in Business Studies and Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. Overall 69% of students achieved three D* to D (equivalent to three A* to A at A Level).

Four of our Business Studies students achieved Triple Distinction* (D*) results, equivalent to three A* at A Level: Alex Cripps, Jordon Pierce, Jake Neville and Lois Simmons. Three of our Health and Social Care students achieved the triple Distinction*: Emily Byrne, Jazmine Collins and Olivia Morris.

All of our students have progressed on to university, Higher Apprenticeships or jobs with training, with degrees in Paramedic Science and Psychology, Accountancy Apprenticeships and job offers from international companies such as Volkswagen being among the notable successes. A number of students have also achieved employment offers following excellent work experience with our partner employers.
