Skilled for Life

This programme is designed to help prepareSkills for Life students for the world of work and choices post 16. Employers and schools have come together to design a course to help students make the transition from education to work, designed around 5 key skill areas:

  • English
  • Social and Personal Skills
  • Skills for Work
  • Industry Knowledge
  • Work Experience

How does it work?

Skilled for Life uses a credit-based model. Units of work are completed, and completing and passing these units will result in a variety of awards or certificates. However, these will only be awarded once the required number of credits has been gained. If you do not complete the required units to get an award, unit certification is available.

Key Skills

In each unit there will be particular key skills to develop which will be outlined in the assignment brief at the start of each unit. Students are taught the knowledge and skills needed to help move on in education post-16 and to succeed in the workplace.
