This course is for those students interested in Motor Vehicle engineering.  You should:

  • Have an interest in the motor vehicle industry
  • Friendly and able to get on with all kinds of people
  • Be able to work as part of a team or under your own initiative

What will I do on the course?

There are 4 units of study on the course covering:

  • The importance of Health & Safety within the industry where employee and employer responsibilities will be investigated alongside possible hazards in the workshop
  • Introduction to Spark Ignition engines where students will learn about the main components of the engine and the function of locking devices and seals
  • Introduction to battery and lighting systems where students will explore the function and operation of the battery and lighting systems
  • Introduction to vehicle braking systems where students will explore the layout of a basic braking system and the importance of performing routine maintain.
