Level 4 National School Games Finals at Loughborough University

Following a very successful summer term of sports leadership, The Grange School’s Young Ambassadors from Key Stage 4 went to Loughborough University at the start of September to be part of the volunteer workforce at this year's Level 4 National School Games finals. The School Games National Finals is a four day multi-sport event for the UK's elite young athletes of school age. The event seeks to create an inspirational and motivational setting that not only provides our elite young sports people with the opportunity to thrive and perform at the highest levels, but encourages more young people to take part and succeed in sport. The School Games National Finals recruits a volunteer workforce of over 400 people and there are a range of opportunities for residential school groups to apply to be part of this workforce. After successfully getting through the application process, The Grange arrived at Loughborough University ready to get involved. The pupils received designated training, and were given a role at the heart of the action in the Table Tennis, Volleyball and Wheelchair Basketball competitions. Pupils worked from 8:30 in the morning to 5 o’ clock in the evening supporting athletes as they participated at the highest level. The Volunteering legacy of London 2012 lives on through the school games and it was fantastic for all young volunteers to became part of the famous ‘volunteer experience’ that comes from being involved in a multi sport event. Well done to the following pupils for their determination, positivity and motivation: Erin McLuckie Ellie Thomas Yasmin Adshead Tegan Mitchell Naomi Austin Jacob Dexter Jacob Larner Ryan Simmons Thank you to Miss Pontifex, Mr Moody and Mr Radbourne for all their work on behalf of the students.
